What is C.E.R.C.A?

C.E.R.C.A. (Community Educational Recreational and Civic Association) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1989 dedicated to preserving the heart of the Pine and Strawberry communities.

The Community Center was once the Pine/Strawberry School! When the new school was built there was concern that the almost 2 acres of land and historic buildings would be sold and become commercial enterprises. Local residents and the school officials came to an agreement and in 1989 CERCA was formed. In 2005 the entire Community Center Property was placed on the National Register of Historic buildings and properties and is recognized by a Memorial Plaque on the grounds.

The Community Center is the “hub” of Pine & Strawberry and hosts many activities throughout the year. You can learn about the local history at the Museum, the Thrift Store has great treasures to purchase, the Senior Dining Room serves meals and also participates in the Meals on Wheels program. There are three Arts & Crafts and two Pine Strawberry Business Community festivals each year. It is CERCA’s responsibility to maintain this property - keeping the grounds clean and welcoming and making sure the buildings are safe and maintained!
