What is C.E.R.C.A?

C.E.R.C.A. (Community Educational Recreational and Civic Association) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historical buildings and grounds at the Pine/Strawberry Community Center.

Did you know? The Pine/strawberry Cultural Hall was once the Pine/Strawberry School! When the new school was built there was concern that the almost 2 acres of land and historic buildings would be sold and become commercial enterprises. Local residents and school officials came to an agreement and in 1989 CERCA was formed to preserve the buildings as historical sites. In 2005 the entire Community Center Property was placed on the National Register of Historic buildings and properties.

The Community Center is the “hub” of Pine & Strawberry and hosts many activities throughout the year. You can learn about the local history at the Museum, the Thrift Store has great treasures to purchase, the Senior Dining Room serves meals and also participates in the Meals on Wheels program. There are three Arts & Crafts and two Pine Strawberry Business Community festivals each year. It is CERCA’s responsibility to maintain this property - keeping the grounds clean and welcoming and making sure the buildings are safe and maintained!

The board of Directors consists of six at-large members, plus a representative from P/S School, Food Bank, Library Annex, Arts & Crafts, Museum, SCAF, Take Pride Project & P/S Business Comm.
